Relationship Manager
Durango, CO
Full Time
Experienced
Citizens State Bank is opening its Durango branch in August 2026 and is seeking a Relationship Manager to help establish our presence in Southwest Colorado. This is a relationship-first, business development role — not a formal lending position — designed for someone with genuine Durango community ties, foundational banking knowledge, and a drive to build something meaningful in a market they know well.
You'll develop and grow business and consumer banking relationships, drive core deposit growth, and serve as the primary bridge between customers and CSB's lending team for more complex credit needs. This is a ground-floor opportunity in a new market — ideal for someone energized by the challenge of introducing a community bank where relationships will be everything.
Position Summary
The Relationship Manager is a community-focused banking professional responsible for building and deepening customer relationships in the Durango market as Citizens State Bank establishes its presence in Southwest Colorado. This is a new market for CSB — the Relationship Manager will serve as the bank's first point of contact and a visible, trusted face in the Durango community from day one. This role drives business development, deposit growth, and broad banking relationships. The Relationship Manager is not a formal Loan Officer; rather, they bring foundational lending knowledge to serve as a trusted connector — identifying lending needs and partnering closely with CSB's lending team for more complex credit structures and loan origination. This individual represents Citizens State Bank's values of ownership, grit, and true north in a market where relationship trust will be everything.
Responsibilities
Market Development & Community Presence
• Serve as Citizens State Bank's primary representative in Durango and the surrounding Southwest Colorado market, building brand awareness and community trust from the ground up.
• Actively engage in civic organizations, local events, business associations, and nonprofit activities to establish CSB as a committed community partner.
• Build relationships with business owners, entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, and community stakeholders across the Durango market.
• Collaborate with the CBDO and CLO on targeted business development strategies, referral networks, and community-based initiatives specific to the Southwest Colorado market.
• Serve as an ambassador for Citizens State Bank's mission, values, and long-term commitment to the communities it serves.
Relationship & Portfolio Management
• Develop, manage, and grow a portfolio of business and consumer banking relationships in the Durango market.
• Serve as a trusted, accessible point of contact for customers — taking time to understand their financial goals, business operations, and long-term banking needs.
• Focus on relationship depth over transactional volume, building partnerships that bring long-term value to both the customer and the bank.
• Proactively manage ongoing client communication, account reviews, and relationship follow-through.
Deposit Growth & Banking Solutions
• Drive core deposit growth by facilitating business and consumer deposit relationships throughout the Durango market.
• Identify opportunities to deepen relationships through operating accounts, treasury services, and other banking solutions.
• Collaborate with branch teams and operations to deliver a seamless customer experience across all banking touch points.
• Support a holistic banking relationship strategy that builds long-term customer loyalty and financial stability for CSB.
Lending Support & Referral Partnership
• Maintain foundational knowledge of commercial and consumer lending products — including C&I, owner-occupied CRE, and small business credits — to effectively identify and qualify customer needs.
• Serve as the initial point of contact for lending inquiries; gather preliminary information and facilitate a smooth handoff to the lending team for structuring, underwriting, and origination on more complex requests.
• Ensure continuity of the customer relationship throughout the loan process by maintaining communication between the customer and the lending team.
• This role does not hold formal loan officer authority — lending inquiries beyond introductory scope are handled in partnership with the CLO and lending staff.
Collaboration & Internal Partnership
• Partner with CSB's CLO, lending team, branch operations, and support functions to deliver a consistent and excellent client experience.
• Maintain clear internal communication and follow-through across all customer touchpoints and team interactions.
• Support a culture of collaboration, shared accountability, and relationship ownership as CSB builds its Durango team.
